CELEBRATING THE RADIO CAREER OF DAVE LEE (Retired in 2021)
Dave Lee launched his broadcasting career at 18 while attending the University of North Dakota, getting his start at KRAD in Grand Forks. After college, he moved to KFGO in Fargo, where he became program director and helped guide the station to a Peabody Award.
In 1989, WCCO Radio recruited him where he became a staple of Minnesota mornings. He took over the morning show full-time in 1997 and held the position until retiring in 2021 after 32 years at the station.
Beyond his popular morning show, Dave was active in sports broadcasting—calling Minnesota Gophers football games, high school tournaments, and serving as a fill-in for the Minnesota Twins. He's been named Minnesota Sportscaster of the Year six times and has earned three regional Emmy Awards for his television work.
Dave's contributions to radio and the community earned him a spot in the Minnesota Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
